Lore / Bio

Like all golems, the construction of an Inferno Golem begins with the creation of its body; a towering, armour like structure of heavy metals requiring extremely experienced artisans to forge. Only the most resistant of metals are suitable for such a task due to the intense heat it must withstand once given life, the most common chosen being mithril, adamantine or rarer yet, the unnamed metals found deep within the Abyss.

Infernal Spirit in Material Form. Where other golems are infused with a spirit from the Elemental Plane of Earth, the Inferno Golem instead is bonded to a spirit from the Nine Hells, to which a humanoid sacrifice must first be made. This process removes all memory from both spirit  and sacrifice and binds them to the new material form. Given the unstable nature of said spirits, the ritual required to achieve this is tremendously dangerous, more often than not resulting in colossal fireballs that consume both golem and caster.

Fated Fealty: An Inferno Golem is unshakably loyal to its creator until their death, after which as per the rules of the ritual its allegiances immediately shift to Asmodeus. The golem instantly becomes aware of the closest portal into the Nine Hells which it then travels to, engulfing all that attempts to stop it in flames.

The Price of Power: No ritual to The Prince of Evil comes without a price; the Inferno Golem is no different. Sacrificing a humanoid to create such a contemptible construct leaves a blemish on one’s soul and a debt in one’s ledger. As such, when a creator of an Inferno Golem dies their soul is sucked into their ungodly creation. Once the golem reaches a portal the soul is then released into it to be reborn from the River Syx as a Lemure in Avernus in 1d4 hours. Only a wish spell or killing the Lemire and casting True Resurrection on the creators original body can restore them to life.
